| drinking water facility |
With high population growth and a city spreading at an unprecedented rate, New Delhi is adapting its drinking water supply infrastructures. Built in one phase and operated by Degremont, the sonia vihar drinking water plant alone supplies water to 3.5 million people. With a 635,000 m3/d capacity, it is Delhi’s largest drinking water facility. The raw water is treated by three turbocirculator preclarification units (used during the monsoon), 8 Pulsator® clarifiers and 22 Aquazur® v sand filters. The sludge is thickened and then centrifuged. |
